Key Linking Strategies

Build all the web sites you want but if you do not have links you may not get much traffic. Links are the roads that lead to your web site. Links enable people to find your site. Links enable the search engines to find your site also.

What is key is how you link to your site. If you go out and just do reciprocal linking with other webmasters directly from a specific page that is set up for links, then these would be deemed as low quality links. That is not to say that they have no value because they do. In my early days I linked with other webmasters who were just starting out as I was and to this day I still get traffic from those sites.

On the flip side I joined a network that
set up reciprocal linking between webmasters and I never received any traffic from them at all. In actual fact it was hard to even find your link as it got buried a few levels deep on any given site. My point is this. Do get reciprocal links from other sites nonetheless get ones that you have arranged yourself.

In order of priority I would put reciprocal linking last on my list. The next could comprise of linking from a certain page on a website that has relevant products then link back from a different page to that website again on a relevant page.. Further more you can exchange articles with other web masters. This can be very effective.

One way links will be deemed higher quality than reciprocal links. You can achieve these by contributing to blogs that then link back to specific pages on your site. You can add a signature to your posts on forums relevant to your topic. You can write articles and distribute them to article banks. You can also submit links to directories. You can write classified ads.

You can also pay for one way links, just be careful. Google frowns upon paid links to generate artificial search engine ranking. However if a paid link brings you traffic and that is your sole objective don’t even worry about it. When linking to your web pages put in the keyword that is relevant to that page. Then vary it so that you do not have hundreds of links with all the same keywords.

The best link of all is when people like your site and link to it. This is as good as it gets as it is a one way link that you did not seek out. This is what they would call a natural link. If you are new to building websites select the link in the signature box to watch a free video.
